Bhubaneswar: Indian discus thrower Vikas Gowda got green signal for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship, which is held in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. His entry was doubtful due to his poor performance in the selection trials. He is the current national record holder with 66.28m. Even though his performance at the selection trials was not so good, he was picked up in to the team for the Asian Athletics Championship.
He picked up silver in the Incheon Asian Games in 2014. He threw 62.35m in the previous month at America. His 51.7 would be seventh or eight according to the Wuhan Asian meet in 2015.
He was the previous Commonwealth gold medallist, He became the champion in two Asian Championships. He showed good performance in the last three World Championships. He finished eight in the London Olympics. But his performance was down in the Rio Olympics 2017. His previous month’s 62.35m is the third best in the Asian players now.
His injury affected his performance. In the Asian Championship, he will try for throw rated above 60m.
