We continued leaving the conveyances outside the quality stump with persistence and it paid off as the presumed National Indian Hockey – Men and ladies – senior and junior groups wound up one of our first customers took after by UP Cricket Association and Cricket Association of Bengal for the Ranji Trophy and Indian Shooting Team. By 2012, we were very much settled on the wrinkle and our execution was influencing the best shots of the Indian and Global donning club to observe us. India vs USA, FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2017: India lose 0-3 against USA in debut matcha

Blog by: Suryakant Tripathi

India showed heart but lacked in skill and quality with a much superior United States of America handing them a sound 3-0 thrashing in the opening encounter of the FIFA U-17 World Cup on Friday.

Playing in their maiden FIFA tournament, rank outsiders India were outclassed by a side that was a few notches above the ‘Boys in Blue’ physically as well as technically. Captain and star striker Josh Sargent gave US the lead in the 30th minute through a penalty before Chris Dunkin (51st) got a freak goal and Andrew Carleton (84th) hit on the counter after the change of ends.

But for fine anticipatory skills of goalkeeper Moirangthem Deeraj Singh, who made some impressive saves, India could have conceded even more goals. As predicted by head coach Luis Norton de Matos, US made a wave attacks throughout the match and India were left to defend their citadel for the better part of the game. While the USA got several chances, India had only had a couple of clear look at the goal.

Midfielder Komal Thatal, the best Indian in sight today, wasted a chance in the second half when his lob was off target while Anwar Ali’s rasping shot in the 83rd minute hit the horizontal. The sizeable crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium cheered the home players, who became the first ever national team to play in a FIFA World Cup at any level, but the gulf in the class was clearly evident.

The accuracy in passes, the first touch, positional sense of the US players made it clear that it was always a catching up game for the Indian boys. India were pushed back in their own half most of the time in the face of incessant US attack. The US attacking trio of Sargent, Tim Weah and Ayo Akinola kept the Indian defence on tenterhooks.

Blog By: Riya Rathore

India’s FIFA U-17 World Cup coach Luis Norton de Matos is targetting a quarterfinal finish in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, his optimism emanating from the team spirit among the teens besides improvement in technique and tactic. De Matos was appointed head coach in March this year and in a short span of time, he has tried to build a team ready to fight the best in the FIFA U-17 World Cup.“When we talk about targets we usually associate victories, a finish in the quarterfinal. That is a legitimate dream. We will do everything to fight the favourites and the stronger teams,” De Matos told PTI in an interview.Talking about the larger scheme of things, he added, “The ultimate objective is to show the world our progress and growth that young Indian football players can practice fair and great football and that there is hope for an even better future.” After Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata was announced as the venue for the final of FIFA U-17 Football World Cup earlier on Monday, the schedule of the 22-day long tournament was revealed. The tournament will kick off on October 6 and will witness four matches, two each from Groups A and B taking place on the day. While the fate of the draws have not been unveiled, the 24 nations participating will be categorised into six groups of four teams A former manager with the Benfica reserve side, the Portuguese had replaced Nicolai Adam, who was forced to resign in controversial circumstances after a revolt from the players. The team had an exposure trip to Europe as part of preparations for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which will be held across six venues from October 6 to 28.“The team has made progress during these three months of work. They have a defined game idea which is yet to be perfected. But through the ongoing training exercises, game simulation, and our playing model, we are working on that.“But there is something that no manager in the world can do in eight months of preparation, like the experience of 10 years of competition as the majority of World Cup teams have. Playing friendly games is not the same as official games. He called the Europe outing a “decisive” one, and added they would look to reduce the gap further.
