The Rajasthan Royal – Devendra Jhajharia

Blog By : Ipsa Singh

“My ability is stronger than my DISABILITY”

We all can’t deny the fact that we all complaint about the things we do not have or the things we are running short of, we do not pay attention to what we have. The real lesson of life lies in the learning that we should be happy with what we have because what we have might be something what someone else is just dreaming of. Most of us just sit back and complaint or blame the god or the situation or not being in our favour r giving us a flaw. But then there are a handful of some great enthusiastic souls living amidst us who not only inspire us but also prove that any physical disability cannot be greater than the will, courage, hard-work, and dedication that an individual possess in himself/herself. Your physical disability can never really become a barrier in the path of achieving your goal until and unless you make your disability conquer the fire in your heart.

Devendra Jhajharia is a Rajasthan based athlete with an amputated hand. At the age of 8 he lost his left hand by touching a live wire. On top of it He belongs to a very poor family. All these circumstances did not make him weak or deter his will to achieve big goals. He believed in himself and his hard-work.

In 1976 he was spotted by the Dronacharya award winner coach R.D. Singh by his performance during an event in his school for sport’s day function. That was the day, since then there has been no looking back and stopping for him.

“The problems in life are just stepping stones, that make you sore even higher heights.” Is that statement this athlete proves to be true. All the bad days that he faced, all the problems that he went through were just like stepping stones he swiftly and gracefully passed through and came out like a furnished gem.

He has been making his country extremely proud. In 2004 he qualified javelin throw at the Athens Paralympics. And that was when he brought glory to his country’s, family’s and his own name. he created history.

In his first Paralympics only, he broke the world record of 59.77m, his throw was of 62.15m. with that he became the second Indian to win a Paralympic gold medal in the history of India. Around a decade later he qualified for Paralympics in Rio, with a clear cut thought that he will repeat his performance of Athens in Rio. He not only stood by his words but also broke his own record od 62.15m, by giving a whooping throw of 63.97m., and with respect to that he becomes the first Indian the hold the prestige of having two gold medals from the Paralympics.

Critics are there all over the world, no matter how much good you do, how dedicated you are, people are hypocrites and will always land up looking at all the negative signs and put your glory down, and if they can’t find any negativity they start assuming things that never really exist and same happened with this magnificent man. But he again proved he is one of his kind, he kept quiet and allowed his javelin not only speak clear but shout out to the world.

“Whenever I went for competitions, people would either look at me with pity or say that I’ve been recommended here or had some source. But then when they see me throwing my javelin they come to me and tell me- I am a champion.”

Jhulan Goswami: 200*

Blog by: Raj Kishan

She is 5 feet 11 inches tall, 120 km/ hr bowling, and No.25 jersey wearing great Indian all rounder from our own India: She is Jhulan Goswami. Jhulan Goswami became the first women bowler to get 200 wickets.

Jhulan, 35, was born in Nadia, West Bengal. She comes from a middle class family. Former football fan, Goswami, took up cricket at the age of 15. Although she had her first encounter with cricket when she saw the 1992 Cricket World Cup, but what, left an impression on her was Belinda Clark’s victory lap after Australia vs. New Zealand 1997 Women’s World Cup final. Cathryn Fitzpatrick, former Australian Women’s team bowler, was one of the reasons she decided to pursue a career in cricket. Watching the former pacer in action with cricketing greats like Belinda Clark and Debbie Hockey, she decided to take up cricket more seriously. Coincidentally, When Fitzpatrick retired in 2007, Goswami took on the title of being the quickest bowler in the women’s game.

Gozzy, as she is called by her teammates, is known for her accuracy and ability to maintain that consistently over long spells. She uses her height to generate good bounce. But it hasn’t been easy. She used to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to catch the local train and reach the practice session. She lives 80 km away from Kolkata, where the practise session took place. Many times she missed the train and couldn’t make it to the practise but she never gave up. Like other Indian parents, Jhulan’s parents’ too wanted her to concentrate more on studies than cricket.

Then there are always sexiest “well-wishers.” “I was asked aren’t you ashamed to play cricket?” Jhulan said in an interview. “My first brush with sexism came as a child in Chakdaha, West Bengal, when boys of a nearby locality refused to play with us seeing a girl in our team. That was the first time I felt belittled.” Well are you now? I am pretty sure they’ll be eating their words now.

Indian spearhead, debuted at the International stage in the year 2002 at the age of 19. She was given Indian captaincy in 2008 and in 2010 World Cup earned India the third place. She held the captaincy till 2011. She is also quite a handy batter known for hitting big sixes.

Deepa Malik: The Strong and Fierce

Blog by: Raj Kishan

“She is free in her wildness; she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. ‘Time’ for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.” These words are by Roman Payne, written whilst describing a strong woman, are in fact a perfect description for our pride, Deepa Malik.

India’s Rio Paralympics silver-medalist Deepa Malik can juggle many roles in life, a real all-rounder; A daughter, wife, mother, athlete and biker! Malik, now 47, she is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympics Games and won a Silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the shot put.

At the age of only six, Malik was first diagnosed with tumours in the spinal column that left her with no sensation in the lower half of her body. However, she recovered after surgeries and became an avid sportswoman, but only until her mid-twenties. In her late 20s, she felt weakness in the lower limbs. “Doctors said the tumour is back with a vengeance. They gave me 10 days to celebrate walking, after which they said they would scoop out the tumour,” Malik recalled in an interview.

“People write me off because I’m an upper middle class colonel’s wife, because my story isn’t one of poverty and because I’m in my 40s,” she said, and in many ways, Malik’s life has been harder because people saw her disability in a gendered fashion — neighbours and relatives thought she was ignoring her family duties, and regularly advised her husband to remarry. The naysayers were riding their horses and discouraging and demoralizing her.

But being the fight she is, she fought back! That wasn’t surprising; after all she comes from a family of brave men. She is the wife of a veteran cavalier Colonel Bikram Singh and daughter of a veteran Infantry Colonel BK Nagpal.

She has won accolades for her participation in various adventure sports. She is associated with Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.) and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.). She has taken part in Raid De Himalaya, which is an 8-day, 1700-km drive in sub-zero temperatures which included a climb to 18000 feet. This journey covers many difficult paths including remote Himalayas, Leh, Shimla and Jammu.

She is both javelin thrower and a shot up player. Collectively she has won 51 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals at national level. She has 18 International medals; which includes; silver at Rio Paralympics in 2016, IPC Oceania Asian Championship, 1 Gold (Jav), 1 Silver (Shotput) in 2016, Incheon Asian Para Games 2014 – Silver medal in women’s 53–54 Javelin with a new Asian Record.

She has a long list of nation and state awards. Some of the major wards are:

National and state awards

  • President Role Model Award (2014)

  • Maharashtra Chhatrapati Award (sports) (2009–10)
  • Haryana Karambhoomi Award (2008)
  • Swawlamban Puruskar Maharashtra (2006)
  • Padmashri Award (2017)

For the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympics Government of Haryana rewared her with ₹4 crore and ₹50 lakh from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

She is a member of the working group in the formulation 12th five- year plan (2012–2017) on Sports and Physical Education as nominated by the Planning Commission HRD Division on behalf of the Sports Ministry.

She is a true hero and a role model. So learn from her. Let’s end with her very inspiring and motivating words, “Keep thoughts positive, exercise your brain with positivity, look for solutions…life is a festival you can and must celebrate every day.”

Blog By: Abhishek Pandit

Virat Kohli the fitness icon this title is right for the guy who doesn’t care about anything just focus on his work. When he steps into the cricket ground with oath to win every game for India it doesn’t matter how much aggressive he is but that thing motivates the team and him as well.

Virat Kohli is perfect example of Fitness. In many interviews and on chat shows it was discussed that how he maintains and some said he don’t eat regular daily food which common people does, he take juices of fresh vegetables and fruits, some said his water is imported from some other country etc. But no one born with fitness it is just how you will work for it matters some give up after some time and some don’t.

When he won India Won Under-19 World Cup under his captaincy everyone believed that he have big spark. He enters the cricket ground like a warrior who just wants to win and make his nation proud. His dynamic style of play makes a special talent. We can say the guy who adjusts really fast in world cricket is Virat Kohli. But how this works?

Virat Kohli trains every part of his body whether it is mind or physically he just don’t want to leave the ground without before winning the game. He have made many records in just short period he have broken many records due to that many legends got shock that how can be this much good in just a little time can achieve this much runs. He is still in his young age and about to get those achievements which some legends didn’t achieve.

If we talk about his age  and records you will realize or think that how? Real answer is fitness if you are fit you are ready for every challenge but if you are not fit then be ready to face challenges which will stop you in achieving your goals of success. Being fit is you can work for long time but being unfit you just thinking about present not about future as well that how you going to work for future goals.

Kohli takes rest from the cricket only when his body really needs not when he wanted. Now he is captain of country so work load itself saying stay fit and motivate other cricketers as well to stay fit. Now days Indian cricket is in safe hands since they got leader who is fit and record breaker this thing is enough for them. Now in Indian cricket everyone works on their fitness to play for country for as much as longer period of time.

There is still many record breaking news to come………

Year by year IPL (Indian Premier League) has grown its audience in India and also abroad. It all started from 2008, when the mega extravaganza got kicked off by a scintillating performance from Kolkata Knight Riders, with a special performance by Brendon McCullum (scoring 158 Runs from just 73 Balls). Year by year, IPL has served its viewers with great everyday cricket action LIVE on thier television sets at 8PM and 4 PM (on weekdays). What sets this league apart is the amount of local talent which shows up each year to impress the selectors and the fans. Certainly the team owning the best local talents gets to the top, as their selection means that the team can experiment with the 4 international players they play each game. This cusion also proves to be the winning factor most of times.

So which team do we pick as the favourites for IPL 10?

We pick- Mumbai Indians

Read on, to know why

The 4-7 Formula

Indian Premier League has brought many uncapped players to the forefront, right from the start. The 4-7 formula which basically means the inclusion of only 4 international players in the playing 11 has proved to be beneficial for the whole cricketing fraternity. This has forced the highly financed franchisees to scout the local talented players which can given their side- the extra edge !

Certainly, the side which masters this formula has the better chance of winning the title each season. Obviously the mixture of international players does play a role. Let us look at the team of IPL 10 for Mumbai Indians

MUMBAI INDIANS : 4-7 Formula – Winning Combination that worked

MI-PRESENT-SQUAD.jpg

Mumbai Indians are currently ranked No. 1 in the standings (24th April) having lost only 1 game out of their quota. The reason of their success is simple !

  • Local Talents
  • Form
  • Team Mentality
  • Crowd Support
  • Owner’s Will
  • Experience in the dugout (Support Staff)
  • Capped local players & International Player Combinations

Let us look at what Mumbai Indians have in their arsenal that is enough to get them over the line this VIVO IPL 10.

  1. MUMBAI INDIANS: LOCAL TALENTS

Mumbai Indian’s local-‘not so expensive’ potential talents outperform any team on their day. We have recently witnessed the likes of Nitish Rana and Hardik Pandya taking on the responsibility of getting their teams out of the crucial stages of an innings and giving their team convincing victories. Recall the day when Mumbai Indians were in trouble facing the Kolkata Knight Riders, but then came Hardik Pandya who smashed it all around the park to register a great victory and snatch the win from the opposition.

Not only Nitish and Hardik, but the likes of Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Ambati Rayudu & Unmukt Chand gives the team great balance and the liberty to experiment with the international chunk.

   2. Form

delhi-cricketer-nitish-rana-652x400-2-1491801344

We all know that the explosive batsman Rohit Sharma has just risen from his injury and the team is lacking that firepower up in front. But Mumbai Indians hasn’t shown any signs of disability, since the team is in great form. Bumrah bowling the Yorkers, Nitish Scoring runs in the middle, Kieron Pollard handling the tough situations when required, Malinga & Harbhajan feeding the side with experience and Hardik delivering sixes on his will- All of this is just adding to the great run this team is on. The result is in front of us. Mumbai Indians have just lost 1 game in their 7 till now and now are on the verge to qualify for yet another playoffs.

3.  Team Mentality

639424548-nitishrana_6

Every team goes through tough situations in the format. Mumbai Indians have been clinical in such situations. They have been found in the dead rubber twice this season. Once with the Kolkata Knight Riders and the other time recently with the Delhi Daredevils. Both those games could have been lost easily, given the team mentality wasn’t stable and positive. But, the blues have shown that they mean business this season by pulling off both those games.

4. Crowd Support:

eden-gardens-on-ipl-final-night-may-24

The blues have always had a great support throughout the season, specially for the home games at the financial capital of the nation. The crowd really gets behind the team, which gives the adrenaline rush to pull it off 7 days a week.  Since the team has big names on paper, it is obvious to receive great support in away games as well. This might not sound convincing enough to win a game, but the greats say that it does makes a difference on the game. Maybe, Kolkata Knight Riders benefit the most from it at the Edens?

5.  Owner’s Will

nita-ambani-647_052615071323
Mrs. Nita Ambani has been one of the most regulars at the dugout. Most team owners come only at the Home games, but it has been quite evident that Mrs. Nita Ambani has taken the task seriously to support the team and get the team together to carry the momentum. Such support was instrumental in brining the trophy home for Mumbai Indians- the first time. At a recent MI event, Mrs. Nita Ambani admitted the same and was applauded by many attending the event.

5.  Experience in the dugout ( Support Staff)

mumbai-indians-2017-team.jpg

Ever since Kings XI Punjab changed their support staff and brought in Sanjay Bangar as their coach, their fortunes changed. They have been performing well. This shows that the experience in the dugout is equally important against the experience in the playing XI. Mumbai Indians has a support staff which is world class. We aren’t calling it world class without a reason.

MI has the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Mahela Jayawardhane, Shane Bond, Robin Singh, Johnny Rhodes who are the backbone for the team. Having such a staff who is mentoring the team leads the team only to one way, which is up.

6. Capped Local Players and International Player Combination

cricket-t20-ipl-ind-mumbai-delhi_442555e6-27ef-11e7-a4a0-8e0501b9fa541

Mumbai Indians have applied the best success mantra- which is,playing with best combinations – always !

The side has local talents who are also capped for the national side, which is a great thing because they too come with the international experience which is handy in the league. Along with the capped young talents, the team has the players like Michell Mcclenagan, Lasith Malinga, Lendl Simons, Kieron Pollard & Jos Butler who govern the pitch.

All international players have left a great impression unlike other teams, which have 1-2 flops each season. Thus, giving the team the impetus to win the trophy yet again !

The above points makes us believe that Mumbai Indians are the one who have the perfect combination to win the League title this year. Who do you think will win this year’s IPL? Let us know in the comments on Facebook.
