Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) defeated Southern Railway who were with  four current international players. Smruthy R K working  at Thruvanthapuaram  also Joined  the existing three international players ,who played last week in Kozhikode. They could not avenge their previous defeat they had last week against KSEB. KSEB themselves have three senior international players  Jeena PS , Stephy Nixon and Anjanna PG, they had a good start of 23-13 at the end of first quarter but experienced railway fought back strongly getting a 1 point lead 36-35 at the end of 1st half.  Third quarter saw energetic plays from both sides and the game was neck and neck as the session ended with a score of 49-49.  Substitute Rojamol converted the two very crucial  free throws which got  Electricty Board the win by wit 2 points. For KSEB  Stephy Nixon came up as the top scorer with 18 points followed by Jeena PS with 15, for Railway veteran Ranjini Peter  showed that she is still a force to reckon with as she scored 19 points and another veteran Anitha scored 12 points in the losing effort. Stephy Nixon will lead a 12 member junior Indian team at the 20th FIBA Asia Basketball Championship, to be held at Surat Thani, Thailand from June 23-30 The team has been training at the Indoor Basketball Complex in Indore for the last two months.The team will leave for Thailand on June 20 from Indore and will be accompanied by head coach Abdul Hamid Khan and tephy Nixon and forward Jeena PS. Both the Kerala international players delivered for Kerala, using their size and skill in the post to outmatch the Telangana frontcourt.
