Sania-Barbora defeated the duo of Viktorija-Nicole 6-2, 7-6(5) to move into US Open women’s doubles Round 3. It was a mixed day for the Indians on Day 6 of the 2016 US Open. While Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna won their respective women’s doubles and mixed doubles second round matches, Leander Paes lost in the mixed’s doubles event .Seventh seeds Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova defeated Viktorija Golubic and Nicole Melichar 6-2, 7-6(5) to move into US Open women’s doubles third round. Sania and Barbora hit 27 winners to their opponents’ 25. The highlight of the match was the win percentage on the second serve. Sania-Barbora won 55 percent of the points on second serve while Viktorija and Nicole won just 39 percent. And  another match, Leander Paes and Martina Hingis failed to progress past the second round of mixed doubles after losing to the Rajeev Ram-Coco Vandeweghe duo 6-7, 6-3, 11-13.Earlier, Paes and Bopanna had failed to progress in men’s doubles in the US Open after losing their respective first round matches. india’s Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna progressed with their respective partners but Leander Paes’ campaign ended after the veteran suffered a second-round defeat with Martina Hingis in mixed doubles at the US Open. Sania and Barbora Strycova of Czech Republic advanced to the third round of the women’s doubles after a 6-2, 7-6(5) win over Viktorija Golubic and Nicole Melichar. The seventh seeded pair will now meet unseeded Nicole Gibbs and Nao Hibino next. Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski defeated Lukasz Kubot and Andrea Hlavackova 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 to move into the quarterfinals. The pair will next meet unseeded pair of Robert Farah and Anna-Lena Grnefeld. However, defending champions Paes and Hingis lost to American seventh seeds Coco Vandeweghe and Rajeev Ram 7-6 (1), 3-6, 13-11 after leading 8-4 in the match tiebreaker at Flushing Meadows. The defeat marked the end of Paes’ US Open campaign after he exited the men’s doubles tournament partnering Andre Begemann . The ninth seeded Indo-Uruguayan pair posted a comfortable 6-1 6-1 victory over French combination in just 53 minutes. They will next take on Treat Huey and Denis Istomin. Later in the day, Paes and his American partner defeated Radu Albot of Moldova and Hyeon Chung of South Korea 7-6 (7- 5), 4-6, 6-2 in a match lasting one hour 55 minutes.
