Rio Olympics 2016: Dattu Bhokanal finishes 4th, out of medal contention (Rowing)

Blog by: Suryakant Tripathi.

Dattu Bhokanal crashed out of medal contention in the men’s single sculls event after finishing with a time of 6:59.89 which was six seconds poorer than the third placed Natan Wegrzycki-Szymczyk of Poland.

The result means Bhokanal moves on to the semifinal C/D where he will compete for the rankings but won’t be moving to semifinal A/B where he would have a chance to win a medal.

Dattu was third after the first 500m with a time of 1:38.65 but then dropped the pace and intensity with the Pole taking his place into the top-3. At the 1000m stage he posted a time of 3:23.66, at 1500m 5:11.68 and then sailed across the finish line with no chance of progressing.
Damir Martin of Croatia topped with time of 6:44.44 and Alan Campbell of Great Britain was second with time of 6:49.41.
