Indian Tennis Player Ramkumar Ramanathan climbed from ATP Ranking no. 222 to 184. It is his best achievement in his tennis career. He gained 57 points from the Antalya open and climbed 38 places in the Rankings. He defeated Eight seed Dominic Thiem before the quarter-final of Antalya Open. He became the India’s no.1 player jumping 38 places in the rankings. Earlier Yukri Bhamri was India’s no.1 player, but Thiem managed to gain it.
He also defeated Rogerio Dutra Silva, who is at ATP Ranking no. 69 and he met Thiem in the next game. He then made a wonderful victory. But he was stopped by Marcus Baghdatis in the quarter-final of the Antalya open. He faced defeat after a tight competition. The score was 7-6, 3-6 and 6-7.
He shocked the tennis world by defeating Dominic Thiem for 6-3, 6-2. He made an easy win over the Austrian Tennis player.
Yukri Bhamri, who is affected with an injury fell down to the ranking of 222. Other Indian players are- Prajnesh Gunneswaran (259), N Sriram Balaji (291) and Sumit Nagal (342). In the doubles, Rohan Bopanna is the leading Indian in the ranking with ATP Ranking 21. Then Purav Raj and Divij Sharan in 57, Leander Paes in 62 and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in 90.
In the women’s section Sania Mirza is top in the doubles with ATP Ranking 7.
