Netherlands stuns India’s run


India got their first loss in the Hockey World League semifinals against Netherlands yesterday. India already reached the quarter final. This loss is for 3-1. Thierry Brinkman opened the account for Netherlands in the second minute of the game. This goal was made from the mistake that was made by Sardar Singh in the early of the match. Dutchmen utilized the opportunities and found goals in the regular intervals. India’s defense were attacked and more opportunities were made by the Dutchmen.

The second goal was in the 12th minute of the game by Sander Baart. He scored it from the first penalty in the match. It was a straight down attack from Baart to the Indian post. The increased their  lead through the third goal in the 24th minute. This time the goal was from Micro Pruijser. He received a good pass and made use of it. He turned the goal into goal.

Indian defense was very tired and was not able to defend the attacks from from the Dutchmen. The return goal was from Akashdeep Singh in the 28th minute. Ramandeep and Mandeep with the counter attack tried to score on the Dutch post. But the Dutch defense and the goal keeper made more effort in making the victory in their hands. India made opportunities from the penalty, but the goal keeper Van der Ven stopped it well. The both the opportunities from the penalty were wasted by Harmanpreet Singh in the last minutes.

India will be taking on Malaysia in the quarter of the Hockey World League. While Netherlands, the group champions will take on China in the Quarter.
