MILINDSOMAN- 50 and UNSTOPPABLE
There is no right time to get yourself into fitness. This fact is well demonstrated by Milind Soman also known as the ‘IRON MAN’ of India. The time when most people want to retire and lead a comfortable life, this man is out on the streets running marathons barefoot ,spreading awareness about fitness and breast cancer and empowering women all over the world.
He was always active in swimming but then got drifted and focused more on his modeling career. But this could not stop him from becoming the iron man he is today. He holds the Limca record for running 1500 km in 30 days time. He completed the iron man challenge in just 15 hours and 19 minutes in the very first try. The challenge includes a 3.8-k swim, a 180.2-km cycle ride and 42.2 km run raced in that order without a break and the time limit is set for 17 hours. His sheer determination and never give up attitude is the reason he holds many feathers to his cap. Recently in 2017 he completed the Ultrathon in Florida that included completing a distance 520 km in 3 days .The first day included a 10 km swim and 148km bike ride while the second day followed by a 276km bike ride and the final day included a 84lm run. Our iron man was the only one to complete it bare foot.
He is active member of the pinkathon and has created awareness among so many women of all ages about breast cancer and the need to keep oneself fit. His remarkable journey is a proof that with indomitable will and focus you can achieve any goal you set for yourself. In all his interviews he gives credits to his participation in various marathons which helped him cure his addiction to smoking. He believes that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind which can benefit a person’s daily life in positive ways.
Soman recently posted a picture with a caption saying-“RUN YOUR LIFE OR YOUR LIFE WILL RUN YOU”.
We all can run our lives what we need is courage ,confidence and a belief!
The story of this ironman motivates us to explore the gift of fitness not only of the body but of mind as well. When we are at peace with our body and mind only then we can live life fully.
