Aditi Ashok rewrote history books in her rookie year. It was a massively successful year for the 18-year-old golfer. The teen golfer turned professional on 1 January and by August, she had made it to the Rio Olympics as India’s lone female golfer.
She was tied 7th after the second round of the women’s individual event, but eventually finished 41st. Despite losing the plot in the later stages, Aditi’s gritty performance helped draw a lot of eyeballs to Indian golf.
The Bengaluru golfer won her maiden title after clinching the Indian Open in November. In the process, Aditi scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a Ladies European Tour title. In December, she ended the season tied third in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and secured the Rookie of the Year honours on the Ladies European Tour.
