BWF Super Series finals: Sindhu’s fight comes to end in the semi finals

PV Sindhu lost to Sung Ji Hyun of Korea in three grueling sets in the semi-finals of the Dubai Super Series finals. It was an excellent performance by PV Sindhu who showed great courage but lost to a better player in the end.
Sindhu, electing to serve lost the first point but compensated by winning the equalizer on the opponent’s service. Next three points were won by Sung thanks to the good placement of the shots. Sindhu recovered soon to level the scores at 4-4 but Sung again raced ahead to reach 7-4. It was a well-fought match by both players as Sung led 11-9 at the interval.
After the break, Sindhu earned 1 point and Sung earned 2 more points to lead 13-10. Sindhu earned her 12th point by an extraordinary shot. Sung retained well and earned her 16th point with a forceful point.
She continued to dominate the game and led 19-14 and finally won the first set 21-15 by the net shot.
In the second set, Sindhu took the initial lead of 3-1 but Sung came back to equal at 3-3. There were few good rallies and both were playing good badminton to reach 6-6. Sindhu rallied quickly to lead 9-6. Next three points were taken by Sung to equal the score at 9-9.
After the break, the match continued to be competitive and the score reached 18-18. From there on Sindhu combined aggression with fine placement earned 3 successive points to win the second set 21-18.
The third set saw domination from Sung. Sindhu’s resistance was failing and this it gave Sung 11-6 lead at the interval.
After the break, Sindhu earned 2 successive points as more points were scored from front court shots or placements. Sung’s domination continued and she raced to reach 15-9.as Sindhu made lots of errors particularly the front placed shots. Sung won the third at 21-15 comfortably to win the game.
It was an impressive performance by Sindhu who was playing her first Super Series finals.
