BCAA’S EXPLAINED

Blog By: Lakshay Batra

What are branched chain amino acids or BCAA’s?
Branched Chain Amino Acids are among the most beneficial and effective supplements in any sports nutrition program. Although these supplements have been around for a long time and the scientific understanding in the exercise performance benefits of BCAA supplementation is rich, many people don’t know exactly how they exert their effects or how vital BCAA supplementation is.
Branched chain amino acids (BCAA)bcaa imgare so called because of their structure, which includes a “side chain” of one carbon atom and three hydrogen atoms. There are three BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Of these, leucine is the most heavily researched, and seems to offer the greatest physiological advantage. For the body to make new proteins, it needs an estimated daily leucine intake of between 1 to 4 grams/day (according to WHO 1985). That minimum intake needs to be met before leucine will be able to impact the insulin signaling pathway.
One thing is definitely sure though, that anyone who is looking to put on more muscle or gain more energy naturally without any side effects should very seriously consider taking BCAA’s.
